Course Information

Mechanical Engineering IVQs (Industry Vocational Qualifications) are qualifications that provide technical and applied knowledge and skills related to mechanical engineering. These qualifications are industry-specific and provide learners with the ability to apply their knowledge and skills to a range of job roles in the mechanical engineering sector.

They are delivered in both classroom and self-study settings, enabling learners to gain the knowledge, skills and practical experience they need to be successful in a mechanical engineering career.

They are designed to equip learners with an understanding of the different disciplines and expertise in the mechanical engineering sector. Topics of study include materials science, thermodynamics, mechanical design, fluid mechanics, power systems, and many more.

IVQ Level

Certificate in Engineering

This level is ideal for beginners and school leavers interested in mechanical engineering. It provides a basic understanding of engineering principles, tools, and workshop practices, forming a strong foundation for further technical training.

Diploma in Engineering

This level builds on foundational knowledge and introduces practical mechanical engineering skills. Learners develop competence in maintenance procedures, engineering operations, and the use of equipment, preparing them for entry-level technical roles.

Diploma in Engineering Maintenance, Installation and Commissioning

This level focuses on the core skills required for maintaining, installing, and commissioning mechanical systems. It equips learners with the ability to diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and ensure systems operate efficiently in real-world engineering environments.

Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

This level is designed for those seeking to deepen their technical knowledge and supervisory capabilities. It covers advanced engineering concepts, system design, and maintenance strategies, preparing learners for higher responsibilities in engineering operations.

Advanced Technician Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

This level is aimed at developing high-level technical and managerial competence. It focuses on complex engineering systems, project management, and advanced problem-solving, equipping learners for senior roles in mechanical engineering and industrial operations.
